چکیده

Tigecycline, a glycylcycline, is a semisynthetic derivative of minocycline with a broad spectrum of activity against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (2, 12, 16). In the literature there are several publications concerning tigecycline activity, most of them related to Acinetobacter baumannii and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia isolates (1, 5, 8, 10, 11, 14); however, its activity against other species of nonfermenting Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) has rarely been reported. Here we determined the activities of tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, and tigecycline against 195 clinical isolates of NFGNB (excluding Acinetobacter spp.) recovered from clinical materials of patients treated at the Hospital de Clínicas Jose de San Martin, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina,

Susceptibility of multi-resistant Gram-negative bacilli in Singapore to tigecycline as tested by agar dilution.

INTRODUCTION Tigecycline is an antibiotic belonging to the glycylcycline class with in vitro activity against most Gram-negative bacteria, other than Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study investigated the in vitro activity of tigecycline against multi-resistant isolates of Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter spp. isolated from clinical specimens in Singapore. MATERIALS AND METHODS Minimum inhib...

In Vitro Susceptibility Pattern of Extended Spectrum Β-lactamase Producing Gram Negative Bacilli against Tetracyclines.

BACKGROUND Extended Spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) are emerging as common nosocomial pathogens and important cause of mortality and morbidity, if not treated properly. The need of the hour is to find effective treatment options for dealing with ESBL producing organisms. This study was aimed to evaluate in vitro susceptibility pattern of extended spectrum β-lactamase producers against tetracyclin...

Antibiotic susceptibility pattern of gram negative bacilli isolated in a super-specialty hospital-Are we gradually losing the battle against superbugs?

Introduction: Multi-drug resistant Gram negative bacilli are increasingly being isolated from hospitals throughout the world. The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of Gram negative bacterial isolates obtained from various clinical samples of patients admitted in different ICUs and wards of a super-specialty hospital during 2014. Materials and Methods: A...

In vitro activity of tigecycline against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens as evaluated by broth microdilution and Etest.

The current surveillance establishes the activity profile of tigecycline against recent clinical U.S. isolates of target pathogens. Findings from a distributed surveillance that utilized Etest yielded a tigecycline activity profile that varied from that observed in a separate centralized broth microdilution (BMD) surveillance (D. GRAM NEGATIVE BACILLI IN BURNS

In a period of nine months, 225 strains of Gram-negative bacilli isolated from burns were identified by a variety of tests in two burn centers in Tehran. The most common species were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter agglomerans, Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Many strains of acinetobacter spp, providencia spp, proteus spp, ser...
